About OH Direct

OH Direct was founded in 2010 by registered nurse Jennie Woods, to provide occupational health services to the Taranaki region.

With increasing demand for occupational health services, and new legislation focusing on worker health, OH Direct saw the need to expand to work with businesses around Taranaki and further afield in the North Island.

This was achieved by setting up an innovative Mobile Clinic run from a fully equipped van.

Clients can opt to have their staff visit the OH Direct office in central New Plymouth, or to use the mobile service – and OH Direct will visit them on site.

Jennie Woods

Senior Occupational Health Advisor, Registered Nurse and Occupational Health Nurse

I started my hospital based nursing training in 1975 and registered as a NZRGON in 1978. I studied at Massey University and gained OSH I & II before moving to the UK to work and added a Dip OH (UK) to my qualifications in 2007.

I have been working in the occupational health sector for over 23 years in multiple fields. In New Plymouth I worked at Taranaki Polytech (WITT) as an OHN and also ran my own OH business. From there I moved overseas to work. Prior to returning to New Zealand in 2010, I provided occupational health services to the British Transport Police Force in London, DHL International, and the UK Government’s Home Office.

In 2010 I set up OH Direct to provide a comprehensive occupational health service to the Taranaki region and beyond. I am passionate about worker wellbeing and the effects that exposures may have on health.
